The Setanta slate plaque is based on the legend of Setanta the Celtic boy warrior. Setanta is reputed to have slain the mighty guard dog of Cullan, through this feat he earned the name Cuchulain "the hound of Cullan". The young Setanta was to become as Cuchulain the mightiest hero of the Celtic race. Setanta`s mother was Dectera and his father was Lugh of the long arm(the Celtic deity and Sun God). In the plaque we can see Lugh looking down and protecting his son Setanta. The setanta design is coldcast in brass then mounted onto a slate plaque 170mm x 125mm in size.
